This ordeal started February 8, 1993
On February 8th 1993, several people including myself partied most of the day. As not to make my writing too complex I will only name three of the main characters involved. Chris Dennis and his wife Robin Dennis and myself. Please keep in mind that there are several other people involved in all this.
At the end of the day, February 8 1993, Robin Dennis went missing.
They would have you believe that I am the last person to be seen with her. This is not at all true! I do not know what happened to Robin.
Mr Prosecutor would have you believe that I left the party house with Robin Dennis around 3pm on February 8th, 1993. He would also want you to believe that by 4pm, that day I raped and murdered Robin Dennis.
A friend of Robin's reported that she saw Robin alive and well around 9.30 to 10 pm on the night of February 8th 1993.
February 9th 1993, Chris Dennis and Robin's dad made an official police report that Robin was missing.
Robin was reported to be wearing a red button up blouse when last seen at the party house. ( A fact which is important to remember. Please read further on)
Robin Dennis car was recovered on February 10th 1993. There are several old buildings out there where they found Robin's car. The area, including the building were searched. They did not find Robin's body at this time.
She was still considered only to be missing.
On February 10th 1993, I was picked up from my home by a Detective Potts from the Marion County Sheriff's Department. Mr Potts wanted to interview me concerning the disappearance of Robin Dennis. I VOLUNTARILY cooperated with Mr Potts.
For the record, I was on parole at the time this was happening with Robin Dennis.
I did not find this fact out until much later. On the night of February 11th 1993, somebody from the Sheriff's Department contacted my Parole Officer and arranged for him to be at the Sheriff's Department early the next morning, February 12th 1993. Also Mr Prosecutor was there.
They say hind sight is 20/20. It didn't take long for me to understand the fact I was a prime suspect.
At that time they had no idea as to what happened to Robin, but whatever happened to her, I had to be the guilty one from the onset.
So, February 12 1993, once again Detective Potts picked me up and took me to the Sheriff's Department for another interview concerning the disappearance of Robin Dennis.
At the end of the February 12, 1993 interview, I was arrested on parole violation.
The charges had nothing to do with the disappearance of Robin Dennis.
February 13, 1993, Robin's body was found in an abandoned World War Two era munitions shed right in the area where they found her car. She had a fractured skull and lacerations to her scalp.
The autopsy report states that the time of death was February 13, 1993. This fact has not been brought out nor argued.
Another fact that has been kept on the hush hush..............on February 9th, 1993, a patrolman observed a pick up truck and a sedan, possibly a Buick stopped in the area where the body was found. The patrolman saw TWO middle aged WHITE males talking to each other in the field.
Exculpatory evidence linking Chris Dennis to the murder of Robin Dennis.
1. Shortly before Robin was killed, Chris Dennis had convinced her to change her life insurance beneficiary from her father to him.
2. Chris Dennis has a history of violent behavior. He struck Robin on many occasions, injuring her repeatedly.
3 Chris Dennis dished out the same violent treatment to his first wife. Such behavior is not uncommon for an alcoholic.
4. Chris Dennis has beaten a friend into unconsciousness before leaving him in the woods to die.
5. On February 8, 1993, Chris Dennis passed out from drinking too much. When he awoke, Robin was gone and threatened to kill her for abandoning him. At some point Chris started drinking again, and he just kept saying things like he was" gonna kill her."
6. The State withheld material exculpatory and mitigating evidence under Brady v Maryland , specifically evidence demonstrating that another person witnessed Chris Dennis ritualistically kill Robin Dennis.
7. Shortly after Robin Dennis's disappearance Arthur Buchett observed that Chris Dennis' hands were bruised.
A note.......I was arrested February 12, 1993.
I did not have one mark on my body. This wouldn't be consistent with somebody that just raped and beat Robin Dennis.
Chris Dennis Stated that he got the bruises from beating the walls of his home.
As stated, February 12, 1993, I was arrested as a parole violator. Upon reviewing the record, one would almost have to come to the conclusion that my being arrested and sent back to prison was the co-ordinated effort of the powers that be as a way to hold me until they could manufacture a case against me.
I am not sure of the exact date, but at one point in time, the parole board authorities told the powers that be in Marion County, either charge me or they were going to release me.
My three week trial began on May 31 1994. There is a lot that could be said about this so called trial.
The best way to put it is, if one was to review the entire record, one could see I didn't stand a chance! The lawyers I had sure didn't have my best interests at heart.
My lawyers tried to get a continuance . They stated in open court they were unprepared to effectively represent me.
The trial court ruled that unless counsel went forward, the court would have no alternative but to remove counsel from the case and, as a sanction, award no attorney fees for work already done.
Under this threat, counsel agreed to proceed with the trial.
The jurors that decided my fate engaged in misconduct throughout the trial by conducting independent out of court experiments, by demonstrating racial bias through jokes about African Americans, and by determining and announcing their belief in my guilt prior to all the evidence being introduced.
The trial court put up a list of serious roadblocks when my lawyers tried to get funds so we could have different experts testify. Such just wasn't going to happen in this case..
After my conviction and after being sentenced to death, the trial held a hearing for a possible new trial. It came out in this hearing that one of the jurors kin folks lived across the street from the party house. This person stated that it sounds as if somebody was being killed in that house. This would make sense to me. Somebody could have killed Robin in that house then took her body out to where it was found.
When they found Robin's body, she had BLOND hair clenched in her hand. Chris Dennis has blond hair.
As stated earlier, it was reported that Robin was wearing a red button up blouse when she was seen last at the party house. When her body was found they found a black Harley Davidson T Shirt.
It may not seem to be all that important, but we can leave no stone unturned on this matter. Chris Dennis bought Robin a Harley Davidson T shirt not long before she was murdered. It is possible that this fact could show that she went to her home before she was murdered.
This is just a thought.
Please forgive me if I seem to come up with some off the wall statements in this writing. It is just so hard to try to fight such an evil and corrupt system from this cell.
It seems if there is really no end to such a nightmare. My mind never stops thinking about this case, this injustice.
It is next to impossible to prove your innocence in such a system. I can see all of the wrong that has taken place in my trial and the appeals etc, but how can I change all this? The system, the evil people, they hold all the power. A person such as myself, I am almost helpless.
A review of the trial transcript will prove the fact that I did not have lawyers that had my best interest at heart. The trial was so very one sided!
I did not have a voice! I would be convicted at all cost!
The lawyers I had all through my appeals believe it or not but they have not so much as read the trial transcript.
My question , how in the world can they represent me if they do not know the facts of this case? Impossible!"
At one point in time, I had a visit from one of my appellant lawyers. I told him about how they found long blond hair clenched in Robin's hands when they found her body. This lawyer knew nothing about this. Unreal! Such an important point, but it really means nothing.!
This long blond hair should have been very strong issue in my trial, but it was hush hush.
On 28th 2007, The United States Court of Appeals for the 6th circuit will hold oral arguments in my case. If they turn me down, it is all but over. This is not a good feeling.!
The only thing I can ask and hope for is that people will get involved in my fight to expose this injustice system. The unlawful convictions and corruption must stop.
The only way we can put a stop to all this injustice is to unite and hold the courts, the prosecutors accountable for their evil acts. After 207 inmates have been exonerated, freed from death row across this country, one would think enough is enough.
There are a number of other cases, non capital cases in which inmates have been exonerated also. Take the case in Boston where more than $100 million was given to four men whom the FBI FRAMED for the 1965 muscle of Edward Deegan, a local gangster.
Yes it is time for a serious change in this injustice system.
I would surely appreciate any and all involvement from the people to help expose this injustice. My case is not the only case like this on Ohio's death row. We need all the help we can get to bring about change in this system. (If you can help please let one of my representatives on this site know.)
All I ask is for people to take a good hard, serious look at my case. Together we can bring about change.
