AFFIDAVIT OF MARION POLICE OFFICER RANDY ABRAHAM
COUNTY OF MARION
STATE OF OHIO
Randy Abraham, being duly sworn, states and avers as follows:
1. That he is a police officer for the City of Marion and that he has been so employed since December 3, 1989.
2. That on February 19, 1193 he was so employed and was working second shift.
3. That on February 19,1993 at approximately 10:13 PM he was called to the Kash & Karry in response to an intoxicated subject inside the store who had stolen whiskey. Upon arrival at Kash & Karry, Officer Abraham found Robert Rodeffer inside the store. Rodeffer appeared to be intoxicated. He had a strong odor of alcohol about his person. He admitted to stealing whiskey in the store and then began to talk about committing suicide. An employee of the store reported that he observed Rodeffer drinking the whiskey in the store and taking pills with the whiskey. Officer Abraham recovered from Rodeffer the whiskey bottle which was ¾ empty and a container of sleeping pills with seven of the eight pills missing.
4. That on February 19, 1993 at approximately 11:00 PM or midnight, Officer Abraham did transport Robert Rodeffer to Marion General Hospital for evaluations.
5. That as the said Robert Rodeffer was being examined by Dr. Culler, at Marion General Hospital he made the following statements in my presence.
A. He knew information about Robin Dennis’ death.
B. He gave the impression that Dennis’ death was satanic related.
C. He gave the name of Robins maiden name and her husbands, along with his brothers name.
D. He said he was friends with them and that he drank with them, and that Robin Travis was her maiden name.
E. He said that she was not driving.
F. He stated that someone told her to get out of the car and that she did.
G. He stated that while walking someone hit her in the back of the head.
H. He stated that she was hung by her neck with a large log chain.
6. I prepared a police report regarding the theft offense and my observations of Mr. Rodeffer. I forwarded a copy of my narrative report regarding Mr. Rodeffer’s statements to Detective Dennis Potts of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
