Can we post other than Ohio's? For some reason, although the League of Life has been gone for two years, have received two letters from Florida in the past couple of weeks. I don't write to inmates, but would like to pass these on to someone who might write. One of them is talking in terms of being moved to the UK sometime. Would they be okay to post on here?
The second one asked if I was related to a Dina Barton, which was strange as Arkie has a sister, Diane but she's not in Florida:) They've been passed onto Friends4Lifers.com who are going to write and tell them 'no relation' as well as try to help them.

Just a little information in regards to replying to those in Florida... especially the guys on DR... last year there were some major dramas with guys getting new penpals via the internet.. so when replying do NOT mention that you saw an ad for them.. as this can result in them losing mail and visiting priviledges and a disciplinary report. It is better if you need to say anything that you got their name from a friend.

Pebbles
I think maybe that's why those letters came here. The League of Life has a website of sorts (which amazingly seems to still be up), but we've never used webpages for inmates. For one thing, my old boss always felt it was rubbing salt in the victim's wounds, so we always depended on 'word of mouth'. So, when someone says they were introduced by a friend - nine times out of ten, they were actually quoting the truth.
And another tip. If you're going to use an Internet prisoner penpal site, check out the prisoner's questionnaire as well. One penpal site had the most atrocious sheet it used to send out, asking about the prisoner's penis size and sexual preferences. The prisoner would automatically think that the writer who mentioned that site would know about all this stuff and maybe get a little 'fruity' if he was that way inclined, resulting in a few crossed lines and sometimes complaints to the prison. Thankfully, that site was closed down.
